Luke C. Bencie, Managing Director
A former CIA officer with more than 25 years in intelligence and national security, Luke has advised governments and more than two dozen Fortune 500 companies across 130+ countries. He trained under CARVER's architects, Arthur “Mick” Donahue and Leo Labaj, and founded today's SMI in 2010 in Donahue's honor. He is the author of multiple books on security and decision-making, most recently CARVER Leadership (2025), and has written for Harvard Business Review and Foreign Policy.
